AUSSEM TO SEEK 2ND TERM AS MAYOR
Ottawa Mayor Dan Aussem announced that he is seeking re-election to a second term as mayor of Ottawa.
Aussem stated that shortly after he was elected Mayor, the world was turned upside down due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. He was still able to work with his Commissioners and oversaw the cleanup of the former Central School, The new YMCA should break ground early this summer, A new watermain has been constructed to service the I-80 and Rte 71 corridor, all meetings are live streamed and the meeting documents are available on the city website. The City also received over $23 million in grants this past year.
Aussem also stated that future goals are to build an amphitheater at the former Central School site, replace the road and construct walking and bike lanes at Allen Park, Complete the water project at the Illinois and Michigan Canal, work with the Conservation Foundation to expand our nature areas at Harpers Farm, Construct a new swimming Pool, design a second waste water treatment facility, raise Green Street out of the Flood Plain and work with the Port District to relocate the rail switchyard and eliminate train blockages on Champlain and Columbus Streets.
